Are You Storm Ready?

Not All storms come to disrupt your life; some come to clear your path.” Author Unknown

Our first article challenged us to prepare for any storm that may perchance come our way. Although storms come in various forms, each has a lesson for us to learn. One writer said that all storms do not come to disrupt your life; instead, some storms come to bring balance to your life.

This point of view is thought-provoking. Generally, no one thinks of storms as anything but destructive. These sentiments made me reflect on how a seemingly negative situation can be a valuable experience.

I vividly recall the story of the three little pigs we learned as children. The main thread of the story begins where the little pigs are already adults. We can imagine that after helpful life lessons from their parents, they can now make their living. Each pig decides to go out and find their place in the world.

Let’s look at the choices each pig made: one pig built a house of straw, one a house of sticks, and the other a house of bricks. Possibly, they were all nurtured in the same environment, but their approach to life challenges was different. One would then ask what influenced the individual choices each pig made.

When we consider preparing for life’s storms, we need to examine the materials we select. Will these materials be able to handle the storms we encounter? Each type of material the pigs used tells its own story. Are we building just for the moment or a sustainable future?

In addition, sticks, straws, and bricks can symbolize such emotions as fear and insecurity. Feelings of indifference, or positive feelings such as confidence, can influence our choices. These factors, negative or positive, can determine the types of foundations we erect.

A close friend told me a story about his fear when he was growing up. His high school class was planning an overseas educational trip. He said he was so fearful his parents would say no that he decided not to ask. As a result, he missed out on the trip and all the enjoyment and camaraderie with his friends.

The story of the three little pigs also teaches us that life’s successes are not to be achieved merely by riding on the coattails of our education or cultural experiences.

It is of great importance that we have a divine connection to weather the storms of life and survive in today’s world. Divine intuition allows us to tap into that inner source of wisdom. This type of wisdom makes a difference and determines whether our foundation will stand. Will it stand against the big bad wolf or crumble to pieces by wild winds or troublesome storms we may encounter.

The key is that we are willing to listen, humble ourselves, and obey divine intuition. As we do, we will experience a significant transformation in our approach to life. Our lives will become more purposeful and move in miraculous ways as we embrace the storms, no matter their nature.

Let’s learn how to tap into divine intuition to make our path clear. Are you ready? Today is a great day to begin!!!
